Care Provider Opens Doors in Devon
An award-winning care provider has opened its doors for the first time in England in Buckfastleigh, Devon.
ND Care & Support are a Welsh operation who have been providing a domiciliary care service to a community which includes some specialist needs since 2010. The teams’ flagship office opened in Cardiff before venturing up into the Welsh Valleys and into West Wales.
Now the team have made the bold move across the border into Devon. Director for the organisation Rebecca Ford said of the decision to make the South West their first English home ‘Devon was the obvious choice for us; the landscape reflects what we are used to in West Wales and the challenges providing a service to a very rural community presents. However, the 1.1 million people who reside here offer us a new and exciting opportunity to support a new demographic with a tried and tested methodology. We wish Helen, Jamie and the entire team all the very best and our teams back at base will be on hand to support the venture’.
The team headed up by Regional Manager Helen Drury hosted a celebration event on Wednesday 29th November 2017 attended by over 50 guests. The home-made Devonshire-style lunch was an immediate hit with the attendees who included local industry professionals and the senior management team from ND Care & Support who travelled from Cardiff to help celebrate the launch.
Speaking about the Devon operation, Jeff Tune, Chairman for the organisation said ‘we are delighted to join the team here in Buckfastleigh today to celebrate this launch. Our branches in Wales are testament to the business model the team operates. We are confident that the team here will be very much ensconced within the communities they are working as a part of very soon’.
The South West population is widely acknowledged as an ageing population, and the team have worked to understand the needs of the community. Recent comments from a Senior Social Worker at Torbay Hospital praised the team’s efforts in the area ‘I want to praise the responsiveness and professionalism of the care provided by ND Care & Support in the recent case of a patient who once home from hospital went in to a rapid decline. The ND team showed themselves to be highly capable and professional in encountering a rapidly changing and challenging situation. I am very pleased to be working with the team’.
