Kickstarting a career from coffee to care
Lauren Hale, Administrative Assistant, joined the company on a Kickstart apprenticeship, bringing 5 years’ experience from the food industry as a former customer service assistant and barista.
“I fancied a change of pace and career role, so I applied to the Kickstart scheme with ND Care & Support and was interviewed. I was extremely happy when Zenzy, my manager, rang me after having the interview and said I had the role”, reflected Lauren.
Lauren has been with the company since December 2021, working in the Abertillery branch. Having finished her apprenticeship the following summer, Lauren realised that care was a sector she wanted to stay in.
“After the initial starting and getting comfortable within the first few months of the apprenticeship, I came to really enjoy the work that I had. I had learnt new things about the care sector and grew my knowledge more using the computer and the programs that we use”, Lauren added.
Lauren is now with the business on a permanent contract as an Admin Assistant. A typical day for her includes answering emails and phone calls, fleet management and tasks related to quality assurance, including reporting and PASS monitoring.
“My favourite part about my role is learning new things. I’m always looking to grow and develop with my role and with other opportunities given to me. My job certainly is eventful.”
